The two words, "Dave Duncan" are historically synonymous with the real history of skateboarding. Duncan, a Long Beach, California native was born in the early 60's.  At the age of 7, young Duncan was a natural at a new sport called sidewalk surfing. Who knew that steel wheels on a slab of wood was going to evolve into a sport that today over 15,000,000 people enjoy, called skate- boarding. Being an avid surfer Duncan Headed South to San Diego, in the early 70's to catch the waves at Pacific Beach, California.

Understanding the dynamics of skateboarding the pools in the 70s, Duncan and his friends had a vision to soar higher on wooden ramps that would propel him and his friends high in to the air throughout the 80s. Duncan and his friends, Christian Hosoi, Tony Hawk, Danny Way and Tony Alva we among the pioneers responsible for creation of the ramps we know today. 

Duncan was an artist and realized he had a knack for building, creating and working with wood. This talent brought the attention of the union leaders of construction locals to hire Duncan as a senior union carpenter. He applied his expetise with building custom homes to a career as world class skate ramp builder. 

In 1984, Duncan was offered his first major sponsorship from Alva Skates.  In his early 20's he traveled the world with skateboarding legends, Christian Hosoi and Eddie Reategui. After turning pro in 1987, the multi-talented Duncan had a full work load, designing world class skate ramps, skateboards and competing as a professional. The skateboard legend Tony Alva recognized that Duncan was a rare breed. He appointed him with an honorary title as the Alva team manager. 

Duncan went on to open his own company, Focus Skateboards Unlimited, partnering with Christian Hosoi, Eddie Reategui and Chicken. It was a manufacturing company of skateboard decks, wheels, snowboards and clothing. Their success has continued throughout the years with the addition of their latest company, Embassy Skateboards.

Duncan's true claim to fame is extraordinarily rare. Duncan is an incredible entertainer. In 1989, he was invited to be a judge for his first pro snowboarding event. After a few years of judging he eventually became the  M.C. of pro skate and snow events, he always has the crowd going. The buzz was internationally viral. Calling out every trick, every name and pumping up the crowd to a frenzy, his comical timing and quick wit is soon became known worldwide at the biggest events.  "You gotta have Dave Duncan Host your event" was commonly heard among the event promoters. He is in such high demand, loved and adored by all. He is a Rembrandt, a true one of a kind. Dave Duncan is a legend!
